Aperia

Dal miele ai concerti sotto la protezione di Flora

Nel 1805, l’area che Luigi Vanvitelli aveva destinato a bacino di raccolta delle acque fu adibita all’allevamento delle api e alla produzione del miele. Nel 1826, con la costruzione dell’attuale emiciclo neoclassico, l’Aperia fu trasformata in serra. Oggi, durante la stagione estiva, ospita una ricca rassegna di concerti e spettacoli. Nella nicchia centrale, una statua femminile di origine archeologica in marmo policromo, detta Flora, accoglie il visitatore. Proveniente dalle Collezioni Farnese, è una copia romana di un originale greco, probabilmente integrata dallo scultore casertano Angelo Solari, all’inizio dell’Ottocento.
