Fontana di Diana e Atteone

Una fontana monumentale, tra natura, dramma e scenografia

Oltre una balaustra ornata da 12 sculture, si trova l’ultima fontana della Via d’Acqua: la Fontana di Diana e Atteone. Un bacino ellittico, delimitato da finti scogli, raccoglie l’acqua della cascata del Monte Briano. Atteone, a sinistra, fugge dopo aver sorpreso Diana al bagno. La Dea, furente, punisce il giovane cacciatore trasformandolo in cervo: irriconoscibile, verrà sbranato dai suoi stessi cani. Realizzata tra il 1786 e il 1789, la Fontana di Diana e Atteone è frutto dell’intervento degli scultori Pietro Solari, Paolo Persico, Angelo Brunelli e Andrea Violani, su un modello complessivo realizzato da Tommaso Solari.
